Leaving the Atlantica

Leaving the ship was a rather casual affair compared to other disembarkations we have experienced. We simply tagged our suitcases with the supplied labels, and left them outside our room the evening before, and collected them on the dock next day. There was no set time to leave, we could have enjoyed the shipboard life all day, up until sailing time.

However, after a leisurely breakfast, and a last cappuccino at Micheal's bar, we made our way off the ship. The Versluis's elected to take their luggage with them.

After walking down the dock to the customs hall, retrieving our suitcases and passports, an assertive Turkish man loaded all our cases onto a trolley and led

us to the taxi rank, where we loaded into two taxis for the trip to the airport to pick up the hire car.

Neither of the drivers spoke a word of English, and the only Turkish word we have is merhaba, which means hello. However, they got us where we needed to go, and after picking up the hire car, and some very capable driving by Mark, we arrived at our accommodation in Duvutlar, which is very nice.

The beds are comfortable, however, there is no cabin steward to make them up, and I had to do it myself.
Similarly, there are no cooks, waiters, dishwashers and launderers for us either, so it's back to the real world now.
