Food in Turkey

The last two days whilst touring Cappadocia, we have been taken to typical Turkish restaurants for lunch. Today, lunch consisted of dips and bread, lentil soup, a bowl of salad , chicken or fish served with chips, rice and a little more salad, and baklava for dessert. This is a typical lunch for the Turks, and dinner is more of the same apparently.

Lunchtime restaurant.

Tonight we dined at our hotel, white glove, 5 star service that was superb.
First, we started with bread, white cheese, olives and tomato chili dip. This was followed by sis kebab for me,

And Durum for Frank, steak wrapped in Turkish pastry.

For dessert we enjoyed Sislik Tatli, crepes filled with puréed bananas and walnuts, served with ice cream.

Whilst dining, we had the pleasure of a harpist entertaining us. She was excellent, and happy to be photographed.

Notice the antique Rugs hanging on the walls, this hotel is not called Museum Hotel for no reason. There is a wonderful collection of antiques here, as well as an art exhibition.

All the food was delicious, and to counteract the effects of it, we are doing lots of walking, not to mention climbing up mountains, and in and out of the small bus.
Generally speaking , the food here is excellent, and seems to be plenty of it.
