We took ourselves off for a walk in the near vicinity of our hotel. We are staying in the old section of the town, near the Grand Bazaar. As we approached the bazaar, we were picked up by very nice Turkish gentleman, who showed us the way. Talk about innocents abroad! We were conned big time, led straight to his "brothers" carpet store, and of course, you are invited to have tea, which is the Turkish way of hospitality,as well as the Turkish way of giving you the big sales pitch.
We made off without partaking of the hospitality, and wandered the bazaar. Instead of being inside their stores, the merchants hang around outside, so they can lure the unwary inside.
As we were very tired from the long flight, we quickly headed back to out hotel, where our room was ready, and we could collapse.
The bazaar was built in the 1400's.
This is the view from the restaurant balcony of our hotel.
